Beginnings
Kesselring Homes and Interiors' evolution began for Heather from the seeds planted over a century ago by Heather's great-grandfather, a St. Louis architect and builder. The business and design legacy carried on through subsequent generations continue to inspire her still today. Even as a young girl, Heather spent countless hours designing and sketching dream homes. In high school, while attending a friend's party, the host parents half-jokingly asked Heather for her advice on their personal
design challenge, their kitchen.
Immediately, Heather sketched her solution for a completely overhauled open-concept kitchen. Months later she received a thank you note for her advice; they had hired a contractor to knock down walls and execute Heather's hand drawn design. Stepping out from that experience into her first paid commission, as an eighteen year old design student, she devoted the next few months choosing wallpapers, selecting wall colors, practicing her own paint techniques (remember when faux finishes were in high demand?), and curating art, textiles and decor to furnish a 3,000 square foot historical home in St. Louis City. Since then, Heather's passion for beauty in design has spurred her on to pursue many creative design paths. Heather's travels, management, experiences in sales, and small business ownership, combined with her time as a floral designer and event coordinator, have all served to shape her current role as Principal Designer of Kesselring Homes LLC. Recently partnering with her brother-in-law, Dr. Allen Kesselring, who is CFO of Kesselring Homes and owner of EKG Life Sciences, coupled with her husband & best friend, Dr. David Kesselring, who is a Principal Scientist and Manager at Mallinkrodt, and their respective crew of ambitious kiddos, create a conglomeration that has become quite the family affair.
